VisualSVN Server 1.5 Release Notes

We are glad to announce the new and improved version of the popular all-in-one Subversion server package for Windows platform - VisualSVN Server 1.5. This release brings new Subversion 1.5 with a bunch of great features and several important improvements in VisualSVN Server itself: Windows Authorization and UI for hooks.

• Windows Authorization with support for Active Directory groups

  Security settings for VisualSVN repositories can use Active Directory users, groups and builtin security principals. Now Subversion server can be fully integrated into Windows platform infrastructure.

• Subversion hooks

  Subversion server can be easily customized and extended with hooks. And VisualSVN Server 1.5 Manager provides convenient way to edit them.

• Improvements and Bugfixes

Upgrading from VisualSVN Server 1.1.x

As usual upgrading from older versions of VisualSVN Server is very easy. Run installation of the new version and click "Next" several times. Uninstalling of the older version is not recommended - customization of server parameters (port number etc.) will be lost.

Important: to use new features of Subversion 1.5 (eg. merge tracking) your repositories should be upgraded to Subversion 1.5 format. To upgrade please select "All Tasks->Upgrade repositories format" in VisualSVN Server Manager context menu for "Repositories" node. The upgrade operation is irreversible. You will not be able to switch back to VisualSVN Server 1.1.x.
